About NetIDme

NetIDme provides a suite of patented age and identity verification solutions to internet businesses. We also provide a consumer service that allows individuals to securely prove their age and identity by issuing secure 'virtual ID cards' whenever they interact online.

Protecting Children Online

NetIDme is the only online age and identity verification service that offers verification for both adults and minors. The company was established in 2004 with the aim of providing a safe, secure internet environment where children and young people can learn, and interact with each other. Our age and identity verification services help online businesses and communities easily establish a much needed boundary between adults and young people who communicate on the web.

NetIDme was founded by Alex Hewitt, an entrepreneurial software engineer and security expert. Alex developed the patented NetIDme technology after discovering his 13 year old daughter had over 150 'buddies' in her instant messaging (IM) contacts list. Alarmingly, she could only positively identify 50 of them, while the rest were unknown to her in the real world. It became apparent how easy it is for a stranger to contact and interact with a child online.

NetIDme's original business aim was to raise the level of protection for young Internet users, and this remains our main focus. As a result, our age and identity verification solutions have been developed with input from leading Internet Safety experts including our contacts within Police Hi-Tech Crime Units, and Children's Charities.

NetIDme is committed to providing trusted age & identity verification solutions, while protecting consumer privacy. Data protection is key, therefore we have employed robust online and offline security measures to ensure data remains secure at all times.
