How NetID Gateway Works

NetID Gateway is a secure ‘inline window’ that launches directly from your site. The system captures and verifies your customer’s information, without 'leaving' your site. The system is also able to take secure payments online.

Step 1:

When a customer attempts to access age-restricted goods, services or sections of your site, an inline window will appear, displaying a page that informs the customer that the content (or section) is subject to age restrictions.

Essentially, it works in the same way that PayPal does but for Age and ID verification.

Step 2:

The customer clicks through to the next page to enter their personal details. If the customer already has an account on your site, much of their information can be auto-populated.

If the customer’s date of birth indicates that they are under 18, additional fields will display to collect parent information and parental consent before proceeding.

Step 3:

The customer is asked to check and confirm their details and submit the information for verification.

NetID Gateway then crosschecks the information against multiple data sources. This process normally takes less than a second.

Step 4:

The customer receives confirmation that the verification has been successful and returns to your site to complete their download.

The customer will now have their own NetID, which they can use for future promotions, sister sites or anywhere where identity or age verification is required.

95% of adults will be verified in this way. Customers who cannot be verified online are asked to submit further proof of ID so that they can proceed. This back up service means that you will never lose a customer who doesn’t have an accurate electronic footprint. Consumers who are under 18 will need parental consent to proceed, and their parents details will be verified against our data sources.
